Glasbläsermeister Eckhard bei der Herstellung eines Trinkglases

A craft. A mission. Our story.

We are Raffael and Lukas, the founders of casa vitri. Friends since our student days in Maastricht and entrepreneurs based in Cologne, we believe that skilled craftsmanship deserves a future. This is our story.

Herstellung vom Rotweinglas am Brenner

A craft that was almost forgotten

It all began with a question: which specialist crafts in Germany deserve more support? We talked about more conscious consumption, local production and throwing fewer things away. Then Raffael told Lukas about his father and more than fifty years of glassblowing, shaping pieces by hand in his workshop.

Lukas immediately saw a craft worth sharing. While people already seek out handmade woodwork and ceramics, the work behind a glass can be easy to overlook. When we first held Eckhard’s glasses, we knew this was where we wanted to begin.

Giving glass craftsmanship a place

We founded casa vitri in Cologne in 2025 with a clear vision: to give glassblowers and glass artists in Germany and Europe the visibility their craft deserves. We started with Eckhard, whose lifetime of work had largely been known only within his own circle.

We want more people to understand what goes into a handmade glass, as a considered choice for everyday life.

Rooted in Cologne, open to European glass craftsmanship

Our shop brings together casa vitri originals and selected glassware from other European brands. Our own drinking glasses are handcrafted in Germany from borosilicate glass 3.3.

Lafiore adds hand-blown recycled glass from Mallorca. Kodanska’s Danish Summer collection combines Danish design with hand-blown production in Czechia.

Origin, material and care vary from piece to piece. Each product page helps you choose the right glass for your everyday life. You can also discover Eckhard Martin’s story and the origins of our own collection.
