Frequently asked questions
Value & origins
What can I find at casa vitri?
Our shop offers our own drinking glasses, handcrafted in Germany from borosilicate glass 3.3, alongside selected pieces by Lafiore and Kodanska. Each maker brings different materials, forms and production techniques. The product page identifies the maker of your piece.
Where is the glassware made?
Our own drinking glasses are made in Germany. The Lafiore glassware in our assortment comes from Mallorca, Spain. Kodanska’s Danish Summer collection combines Danish design with hand-blown production in Czechia. A brand’s home country and its manufacturing location are not necessarily the same.
Is the glassware handmade?
Our own drinking glasses and the selected Lafiore and Kodanska glassware are handcrafted or mouth-blown. Makers use different tools and techniques. Mouth-blown does not necessarily mean that no mould is used.
Product & design
Why can handmade pieces differ slightly?
Handwork can result in small variations in shape, colour or dimensions. The product page describes the characteristics of each piece. Please contact us if you notice damage or a possible defect. Handmade production does not mean that every irregularity is acceptable.
Which pieces are intended for drinks or food?
Follow the intended use stated on the product page. Drinking glasses, carafes and oil bottles serve different purposes from candleholders or decorative glass objects. For information about a specific item, email hello@casavitri.com.
Is all your glassware made of borosilicate glass?
No. Our own drinking glasses are made of borosilicate glass 3.3. Lafiore uses recycled glass. The Kodanska pieces are not offered as borosilicate glassware. Properties of one collection should not be applied to the entire assortment. Borosilicate glass can also break through impact or unsuitable use.
What do fine marks in the glass mean?
Small bubbles or subtle forming marks can be part of handmade production. Cracks, sharp edges and chips should not be treated as normal signs of craftsmanship. Stop using a damaged glass and contact us.
What distinguishes the coloured stems of casa vitri originals?
Our own stemmed glasses combine coloured borosilicate glass with a transparent bowl. Handwork gives each piece subtle individual differences. This description applies to our originals with coloured stems, rather than every glass in the shop.
Care & service
Can I put my glass in the dishwasher?
It depends on the product. For casa vitri originals, follow the care instructions on the individual product page, especially for decorated pieces. Lafiore recommends handwashing. For Kodanska, the maker recommends a gentle glass program below 40°C. Position glasses so that they do not touch. One maker’s care advice does not automatically apply to the others.
Can every glass be used for hot drinks?
No. Use a glass for hot drinks only when this is stated for the specific product. The material name alone is not sufficient. Avoid sudden temperature changes. Lafiore advises against heating liquids in its glassware in the microwave. Contact us if you need guidance for your particular piece.
How can I clean my glass gently?
Start with the product-specific care instructions. For handwashing, use a soft cloth, mild washing-up liquid and lukewarm water. Avoid abrasive cleaners and pressure on delicate parts. Do not twist the bowl and foot of a stemmed glass against each other while washing or drying it.
Can I share ideas for new designs?
Yes. Email your ideas for colours, shapes or new pieces to hello@casavitri.com. We welcome suggestions, although we cannot promise to produce every idea.
